Glad to know that Kelly Golebiowski (former Washington Freedom) is still playing professional soccer, she's back in her native country Australia, she play with Central Coast Mariners in Westfield W-League, season started tomorrow (10/3/09).
And Alex Singer joining Freedomite team mate Lisa De Vanna, Perth Glory.
GO FREEDOM!!!

Becky Sauerbrunn will join Røa IL (Norway) for the autumn as the Norwegian club wants to win the Norwegian league and play in the Champions League.

It's all just fodder ... You may not be at the final, but you are all pretty awesome. Better luck next season!

The article was about the future of A Rod with the Breakers and covered a lot about the relationship between coach and player, with quotes from both parties. A Rod specifically talks about her conversations, and her feelings about "burn out" which was really interesting to read. She is a great player who obviously had to work through her own dynamics, trials and tribulations.

I think some people have their undies in a bunch over the way the Freedom part was conveyed, and how it seemed to single out Singer. It's too bad there wasn't a quote from her also ( as we read from both A Rod & DiCicco) because it might have given us, the readers some insight from the players perspective about her experience being such a young rookie and starting out as I understood it, just out of the gate from her college season. To me it just seemed awfully off balance and one sided.

Because the article parlays from the goals scored by NJ and the loss into comments about Singer, that it sounds like he blames her. If you watched the game you know that it was a breakdown, not by any one player, but by the team. I actually felt that when Gabarra put her in the game that the game came alive. Did anyone else notice that? She made some great offensive plays that seemed on target, but unlucky for the forwards who tried to connect unsuccessfully. It impressed me and my kids how fast that player got back into position after making full runs forward! Gabarra says something about likiing her pace and athleticism and what it makes me wonder what he as the coach did to help her improve her game and get the best out of not only her but all of the players?

Just rambling here.

Can someone explain what happens to the players after the season? Are they asked back or is there a trading process as in baseball? If so, any predictions?

In reference to the article DiCicco/A-Rod by Dan Lauletta:

Looking at the article, it appears to me that the writer mixes it up between comments by both Jim Gabarra and DiCicco and his own thoughts. it gets a little convoluted. I don't see any place where he (Jim Gabarra) credits the loss to Singer or to any one player.

One also has to remember that a writer can also slant an article using leading questions to elicit a specific result. I'm not accusing the author of this, but it can also be unintentional. It appears that while Jim is saying that Singer improved during the season, that progress flattened. It also appears that he might believe that defense will continue to improve given time.

I'll be honest and say that I'm not really familiar with Skylar Little and Emily Barr and their performance, but I would have concluded from the article that initially the defense was poor, it came to life two years later. That means to me that he (Jim Gabarra) is looking at the big picture, not a single game albeit the season playoff.

WoW!!! Singer wasn't the one that played bad. Senty had a very bad game and her majority of her passes went to the wrong team. We need some major chances during the offseason to get players that can play in this league. New defenders, midfielders and another forward that can gives us another weapon off the bench. All the players looked flat right from the start. Pretty sad when the coach makes a comment like that about a particular player.
