Women's Professional Soccer

The following ten women (in alphabetical order) are in contention for the title of FIFA Women's World Player 2009;

Nadine Angerer (Germany), Sonia Bompastor (France), Cristiane (Brazil), Inka Grings (Germany), Mana Iwabuchi (Japan), Simone Laudehr (Germany), Marta (Brazil), Birgit Prinz (Germany), Kelly Smith (England) and Abby Wambach (USA).

One question where is Hope Solo on this list? She allowed 1 international goal all year and was arguably the best goalkeeper in WPS. What else does she need to do?

Much too much love given to Germany on this list.

Others I think should have been considered are Ramona Bachmann(Swiss) and Camille Abily(France).

Who do you think should be on this list? Who do you think should win?

Little surprised Solo isn't on the list, but what can you do.
In my opinion, I think Inka Grings should win.

it's not surprise that Germany is given the love here; after all, the DID defend their Euro title. We're just waiting for the Women's World Cup to end so this league can go after them.

I've been wondering about that since the list got released - where is Hope Solo? Algarve Cup MVP Hope Solo? No?
Whatever, yay Abby and Bomp Freedom's proud of you

They should nominate 20 players, not just 10. This year there are 23 male players nominated for the same award That gives you more room for country-wise variety But that being said, there is no secret that FIFA is Euro-centric

Yeah, Abby Wombat (Wambach) & Sonia Bompastor.
But I got a feeling Martha will win.
If FIFA included UEFA 2009 Championship, then the German gonna. - Inka Grings.
GO FREEDOM.

JR I agree they deserve recognition for winning the Euro title but 4 players from the Germany when they drew against Brazil and lost to the US. Granted the team was picked before the US-Germany game.

I agree with Rick P. if the men had 20 nominees then the women's should have as well.

I'm agree about Solo. . I think she is the best goalkeeper
In this list are the best players in the world. Everybody has their own list in the head, You forget Iwabuchi, I saw playing this young girl last year (I don't remember if U-17 or U-20, playing harmonic game. Awesome!. About the rest, will win Marta again?, or Angerer, nominated in 2008.
About Abily in the last tournament she did'nt nothing (Elodie Thomis or Laura Georges were too much better).
And the bests regards for Angela Hucles, why she leave?. She has a lot of things to give an live in Soccer.

i do not think wambach should be on the list. she seems to be included more for her name rather than actual accomplishments

No surprise so many Germans are on the list. They did defend their Euro title. I am surprised that Hope Solo isn't on the list. Why? I don't know. I think that Camille Abily should be on.

I don't think Abby Wambach should be on the list. Ever since her injury, shes been doing bad. All of the WPS games shes played in so far haven't been exciting, especially the Inaugural Match and the All-Star Game. There are other people out there that are better then her, like Eniola Aluko and Tiffany Weimer, they had a fantastic season. I don't think Camille Abily should be on there either. The only thing she can really do is score and do a few good things. Marta is obviously going to win. No one has as much dedication, creativity, skill, and passion as she does. Marta deserves this the most.

VOTE FOR MARTA!!!
